1. Smooth leather (the most common, smooth and shiny surface)
This type of leather includes smooth models of cowhide and sheepskin, which have relatively good stain resistance.
daily dust
Use a clean soft-bristled brush (such as a makeup brush, wool brush) to gently sweep away the surface dust, or use a slightly damp soft cloth to wipe along the leather texture, and dry it with a dry cloth immediately after wiping.
water stains/sweat stains
Use a soft cloth with good absorbency to press and absorb the moisture. Do not rub it back and forth (it will expand water marks), and then place it in a ventilated place to dry naturally, avoiding exposure to the sun and direct blowing from a hair dryer.
Oil stains/cosmetic stains
First, sprinkle a layer of cornstarch or talcum powder on the stained area, cover it and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to let the powder absorb the grease; then gently brush off the powder, and then wipe it with a soft cloth dipped in a small amount of neutral detergent (such as diluted dish soap). Finally, wipe off the residue with a clean damp cloth and let it dry.
Ballpoint pen print
Dip a cotton swab into a little essential oil or alcohol, and test it on an inconspicuous corner of the bag (to prevent discoloration). After confirming that there is no problem, gently rub the mark, wipe it clean, and then wipe off the residue with a damp cloth.
2. Suede/suede (with velvet on the surface, easy to leave marks)
This type of skin is most afraid of water and oil stains, so be extra careful when cleaning.
daily dust
Use a special suede brush (rubber brush and copper wire brush on both sides) to lightly brush in the direction of the pile; you can also use tape to remove surface dust.
water stains/water marks
Don't rub it directly! First use a dry cloth to absorb the surface moisture, then place the bag in a ventilated place to dry; after it is completely dry, use a suede brush to brush along the velvet to restore the velvet texture and dilute the water marks.
oil stains
Sprinkle cornstarch to absorb, let it sit for 20 minutes and then brush it off; if there is any residue, use a small amount of special suede cleaner to wipe it, and avoid getting water on a large area.
3. Artificial leather (PU leather, PVC leather, high cost performance)
This type of material is relatively durable, but is prone to aging and cracking, so cleaning efforts should be moderate.
Dust/light stains
Use a damp cloth dipped in a small amount of neutral laundry detergent, gently wipe the stain, and then wipe dry with a dry cloth.
Stubborn stains (such as lipstick marks)
Dip a cotton swab into the makeup remover and rub it gently. After wiping, wipe off the residue with a damp cloth to avoid chemicals staying for a long time.
4. Canvas/nylon bag (lightweight, stain-resistant)
The easiest way to clean this type of material is to dip a soft-bristle brush into diluted neutral detergent and gently scrub the stained area, then rinse it with water and place it in a ventilated place to dry. Do not expose it to the sun (it will fade).
General taboos (pay attention to all materials)
Before cleaning, be sure to test on an inconspicuous place such as the inside or bottom of the bag to prevent discoloration and damage to the leather.
Avoid using strongly alkaline/strongly oxidizing detergents such as laundry detergent, disinfectant, and bleach.
Do not use hot air from a hair dryer, heating, or direct sunlight to dry the bag, as this will cause the leather to harden, crack, and fade.
Mild moldy leather bags should be wiped with a soft cloth dipped in alcohol. For severe moldy spots, it is recommended to send it to a professional care store to avoid damaging the leather by handling it yourself.
