Leather care oil (special leather care oil)
Applicable materials: Smooth leather, nubuck leather and other genuine leather materials. It is the most suitable maintenance product for leather bags.
Advantages: The ingredients are highly targeted and contain the oils and nourishing ingredients needed by leather. It can deeply moisturize the leather, repair the oil lost during cleaning, prevent the leather from drying out and hardening, and form a protective film on the surface to improve its anti-fouling and moisture-proof capabilities.
Disadvantages: The price is higher than hand cream. It is not suitable for artificial leather (PU/PVC) and can easily make the surface of artificial leather sticky.
Lanolin
Applicable materials: Both smooth leather and artificial leather can be used, with strong compatibility.
Advantages: The texture is mild and moist, the ingredients are natural, and it will not irritate the leather; it can quickly replenish the oil on the surface of the leather and improve the dry and rough condition. The price is moderate.
Disadvantages: The depth of nourishment is not as good as that of special leather care oil. Long-term use may clog the pores of genuine leather bags and affect the breathability.
hand cream
Applicable materials: Emergency use, suitable for all materials (except genuine leather, artificial leather, and suede).
Advantages: Always available at home, convenient and fast; light and thin texture, can temporarily relieve leather dryness and prevent cracking.
Disadvantages: Contains additives such as fragrances and preservatives, which may cause the leather to become discolored and sticky with long-term use; it has poor nourishing effect and cannot replace professional care products, especially not suitable for luxury leather bags.
Summary suggestions
Clean mildew: Prioritize using 75% alcohol, diluted neutral detergent and other materials with sterilization and mildew removal effects. Care oils do not participate in the mildew removal step at all.
Follow-up maintenance:
Luxury genuine leather bags (cowhide, sheepskin glossy models): Choose special leather care oil for the best maintenance effect.
Ordinary genuine leather bags or artificial leather bags: use lanolin, which is cost-effective and has good compatibility.
Emergency situations: Use hand cream for temporary relief. Long-term use is not recommended.
Suede/Suede: Do not use oil products, just use a special suede brush + waterproof spray.
